Master Lock Serial Number List

Means 'remainder.' The magic number with Master locks is four. You need to find the modulus of the last digit of your lock and four. For my lock, the last digit is 19. Let's do some long division! 4 into 19=4, and 4 times 4 is 16, and 19-16=3, so we have 4 remainder 3. So, 19 Mod 4 (sometimes stated 19%4) is 3. The Master Lock chart references the key cut to the lock serial number Your organization may find it useful to keep records by serial number of which employee is assigned a specific lock Please contact Master Lock Customer Service to define and order your Master Key System at 800-308-9244.

Q: I've lost the combination to my Set-Your-Own combination lock. Can you tell me what it is?

A:

Resettable combination locks have a combination that is assigned by the owner of the lock. Therefore, Master Lock does not have record of the combination that the owner set. The lock cannot be reset unless it is in the open position. If your lock is attached to something, you will need to call a locksmith for removal. Please note that Master Lock does not reimburse for Locksmith services and/or fees.

Q: Someone was playing around with my resettable combination lock and accidentally reset the combination. Now, I don't know the correct combination. Is there any way to reset this lock back to 0 and assign a new combo?

A: Unfortunately, this lock is not resettable without knowing the combination that was assigned by the owner. It's most likely that you will need to purchase a new lock.

Q: I've lost the reset tool for changing the combination on my resettable lock model 175, 176, 177, or 178. How can I get a new one?

A:

Contact your local hardware store or locksmith. (Master Lock's part number for the reset tool is K175).

Q: What should I do if I can't get a legible photocopy of my lock?

A:

We suggest that you lighten the copy as much as possible. If you can not read the serial number after you make the copy - that is ok, just write it on the side of the copy. What we need more importantly, is to clearly see that it is not attached to something.

Q: Can Master Lock reset my Set-Your-Own combination lock and send it back to me?

A: Unfortunately, your lock is a set-your-own combination lock. Once you have set the combination, we cannot reset it for you!
